More older couples getting divorced in US

Many couples get divorced every year in the United States. While couples of all ages are getting divorced, more seniors are ending their marriages than ever before. The increase in older couples getting divorced may be somewhat surprising to many and have many people wondering why more seniors are deciding to get divorced after so many years of marriage.

What are some of the common reasons older couples are deciding to get divorced? As older people live longer, more couples are questioning how they want to live the rest of their lives. Couples who feel unhappy or unfulfilled in their relationship are deciding to get divorced as divorce has become more acceptable in today's society.

Since divorce is more acceptable, many older couples who were in unhappy marriages are getting divorced. Children moving out of the house is also another reason for the increase in older couples getting divorced. After children leave the home, some parents begin to question their relationship now that it's just the two of them.

Older couples thinking about getting divorced have several considerations to make. Divorce impacts your life in many different ways. One of the biggest things older couples should think about is the financial impact of divorce. Couples will have to divide their marital assets and property. This includes retirement and pension plans as well as other bank accounts and life insurance policies.

Separating these assets can have a substantial impact on your future financial goals and way of living. Older couples should understand the impact dividing their assets will have on their finances and make plans to protect their financial goals in the future.
